PRECURSOR CHEMICALS

Overview

Chemical precursors are substances that have legitimate industrial, commercial, pharmaceutical, scientific, and research applications. However, certain chemicals may also be used in the illicit manufacture of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic substances, making their monitoring and regulation essential.

The Section is responsible for overseeing and regulating the import, export, handling, distribution, and use of controlled chemical precursors in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established procedures.

Through these regulatory measures, the Section aims to prevent the diversion of chemical precursors for illicit purposes while facilitating their legitimate use by authorised establishments. These efforts contribute to strengthening regulatory oversight, promoting public safety, and supporting national and international efforts to combat the illicit manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
